Product outline: This system should transfer digital video signals using the Ku band and cause the specified receivers to receive the signals by an authorization function. This system should consist of digital video center equipment, radio frequency units, and receiving units. The major requirements of the system should be as follows: (a) Transmission method: Frequency division method (SCPC) or transmission method which can be easily expanded from a frequency division method (SCPC) to a time division method (MCPC): (b) Transmission type: Simultaneous transmission of video and audio signals or video, audio, and data signals: (c) Function type: The system should equip the following functions: (1) Functions for authorization and distribution control. (2) Function for remote monitoring control: (d) Interface: The system should equip an MPEG2 transport stream input interface. The applicant-manufactured encoder may also be proposed: (e) Receiving unit: (1) The receiving unit should consist of a receiver and a decoder. (2) The receiving unit expandable to the MCPC should be able to use both SCPC and MCPC. Quantity: (A) Digital video center equipment: Approx. 5 sets per year. (B) Receiving unit: Approx. 400 units per year. (C) Radio frequency units: Approx. 5 sets per year. The products to be procured are to be sold to NTT customers and the procurement will be made depending on customer's orders. Therefore, in some cases, products may not be purchased from the contracted suppliers. Accordingly, the above scheduled quantities and time of procurement may be subject to change.
