D -- REDESIGN OF THE NEXRAD TRANSMITTER TRIGGER AMPLIFIER SOL 52-SPNA-6-00006 DUE 052096 POC Agnes Eley, Contract Specialist, 301-713-3478 The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Systems Acquisition Office, Next Generation Weather Radar (NEXRAD), intends to contract with the original manufacturer, Westinghouse Electric Corporation to redesign, engineering development, modification, and test of three Government-owned WSR-88D transmitter trigger amplifiers. The modification will increase trigger amplifier reliability. The contractor shall provide the associated program management and logistics support planning requirements, hardware, and documentation components for the trigger amplifier redesign. Firms that believe they have the capability to redesign the current Westinghouse trigger amplifier, then modify and test Government-owned WSR-88D transmitter trigger amplifiers must submit a brief capability statement to the address indicated within forty-five days of the publication of this announcement. Your capability statement must address your ability to support the mission of the NOAA in the areas outlined above. The level of effort for each task, the skill, and special equipment required shall also be added. Competitive solicitation documents are not available as the equipment to be redesigned and modified has been developed under a major system acquisition by Westinghouse over the last nine years. Responses to this notice will be evaluated and the findings detailed to any responding firms. If the final decision, after evaluating all responses, is to complete the proposed contract to Westinghouse Electric Corporation using the authority of 41 USC 253 (c) (1) no further pre-award notice will be published.
