Contracting Officer (301) 975-6330 National Institute of Standards and
Technology (NIST) intends to procure the services of a Contractor to
design and fabricate a non-magnetic, water jacketed vacuum system for
use in its next generation System International(SI) Watt experiment.
Primary components will be non-magnetic, non-conducting materials. Two
vacuum chambers will be connected, assembled around the existing Watt
apparatus. The upper chamber will contain the existing balance,
balance wheel, spider auxiliary drive coil, auxiliary magnet & mass. An
existing 9-ft cryostat(Dewar) must be placed inside a donut shaped
lower chamber, connected to the upper chamber by 3 evacuated tubes.
Allowance must be made for small angle changes between each vacuum
chamber. The Government anticipates award of a firm-fixed price
contract, FOB destination, Gaithersburg, MD; with delivery required
within 180 calendar days from date of contract award. Requests for the
solicitation shall be in writing, and mailed to the above address. All
responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by
