Contact, Procurement and Property Management, 503/326-3581 The USDA
Forest Service, Pacific Northwest Region, intends to award a sole
source contract to Oregon State University, Dr. Everett Hansen, for the
purpose of continued development of a risk-rating system and thinning
guidelines to reduce the impact of blackstain root disease (BSRD) to
Douglas-fir on long-term productivity of Pacific Northwest Forests.
This includes developing a system for identifying sites at risk for
root disease development, determining if precommercial thinning
increases the incidence and severity of BSRD, and determining if
precommercial thinning in 25-35 year old Douglas-fir increases the risk
of BSRD introduction onto a site. See Note 22. (0123) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0018 19960503\B-0007.SOL)
