(EPA) intends to extend its current contract with NCR of Rockville, MD,
for a maximum period from October 1, 1996 through September 30, 1998.
NCR has been determined to be the only responsible source to provide
EPA with preventive and remedial maintenance for a Datagraphix model
9825 laser printer and auxiliary output cutting/bursting equipment at
the Washington Information Center (WIC), EPA Headquarters in
Washington, D.C. EPA requires the maintenance provider to provide
on-call maintenance service with a four (4) hour response time during
the Principal Period of Maintenance (PPM), which is seven (7) days a
week, 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. EPA also requires the
ability to order maintenance on an ad hoc, per-call basis. EPA requires
a 95% availability rate, and quick access to OEM spare parts is needed
to minimize downtime. EPA also requires prompt implementation of all
Engineering Changes, including microcode and firmware fixes and
upgrades proposed by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). All
Engineering Changes, new releases, updates and corrections to the
printer operating system software must be made available to EPA within
one week of when they are first made available by the OEM. Besides
hardware features for enhanced performance, these changes may involve
reliability, safety, etc., modifications to OEM-proprietary microcode
or firmware embedded in the equipment for maintaining compatibility
with upgrades to other hardware and software that work in conjunction
with the printer. Maintenance services will not include electrical work
external to the equipment, the furnishing of supplies and adding or
removing accessories, attachments, and other devices. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT
IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. NO FORMAL SOLICITATION DOCUMENT
WILL BE ISSUED. Any interested vendors wishing to respond to this
synopsis must do so in writing. Responses must clearly indicate the
ability to meet the above stated requirements. Any response failing to
provide the aforementioned data, but merely requesting a copy of the
RFP, will be ignored. Response must be received within fifteen days
