Request for Applications for a USAID supported Program of Activities for the Implementation of the Local Government and Participatory Development components of the Citizens' Participation Project in USAID/Sri Lanka. The United States Agency for International Development, Mission to Sri Lanka, is soliciting applications from a U.S. organization with a diverse ''team'' for a cooperative agreement on a non-profit, cost-sharing basis, which will further the U.S. Government's, assistance program in Sri Lanka under the Citizens' Participation Project. The cooperative agreement will provide USAID assistance for the successful applicant to implement a Program in Sri Lanka to strengthen democratic processes that enhance opportunities for ordinary citizens in the local government and participatory development components of the Project. The applicant's ''team'' should draw diverse experience, capabilities and perspective from organizations consisting of, for example, private voluntary organizations (PVOs), universities, research groups, commercial firms, other private organizations, and Sri Lankan nongovernmental organizations (NGOs). The USAID contribution to the cooperative agreement is anticipated to be 3,500,00 U.S. Dollars and 240,000,000 Sri Lankan Rupees, and the term of the agreement is anticipated to be 46 months. The successful applicant must contribute at least 25 percent of total Program costs (USAID plus recipient contributions). (0123)
