Shepard, Jr. (816) 426-3052 Contracting Officer THIS NOTICE SUPERSEDES ALL PREVIOUS NOTICES IN REFERENCE TO DTFA09-96-B-26027. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has a project to remove hazardous materials from, and then to demolish, the existing Johnson County Health Center building located at 301 S. Clairborne. This building is located adjacent to the Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC) in Olathe, Kansas. This announcement is to identify firms who have extensive experience as the PRIME CONTRACTOR in demolition projects of this size and complexity. Implosion is not an acceptable method. The major elements of the project are: 1) Remove and dispose of 2000 gal. underground diesel fuel storage tank. 2) Remove and dispose of asbestos containing materials in the form of insulation on mechanical piping, exterior transite paneling and exterior transite/metal composite window panels. 3) Remove and dispose of PCB containing light fixture ballast's. 4) Remove and dispose of mercury containing flourescent lamps and mechanical switches. 5) Remove and dispose of coolant in existing HVAC system. 6) Remove and dispose of smoke detectors containing radioactive elements. 7) Remove and dispose of used motor and hydraulic oil from mechanical equipment. 8) Remove and dispose of lead-acid batteries. 9) Remove and dispose of 76,000 sf reinforced concrete (plate construction) bldg. and asphalt/concrete pavement. 10) Backfill and landscaping of demolition site. 11) Installation of asphalt/concrete pavement and curbs. 12) Installation of chain link fence, light poles, CCTV security cameras. 13) Modification of existing storm sewer and sanitary sewer systems. The FAA plans to start work on this project early fall to avoid the need to winterize the structure. Prime contractors with the respective capability to perform this entire project should submit a letter indicating interest to the Federal Aviation Administration, 601 E. 12th Street, Kansas City, MO Attn: C.O. Shepard. Letters must be received by 5/15/96. A questionnaire will be forwarded to these firms requesting information to be utilized in determing the firms most qualified to perform this project. The six most qualified firms will subsequently be provided the plans and specifications for the project for review and asked to submit a priced offer for the work. The FAA may accept the lowest priced offer without discussions, however, discussions and/or negotiations may be conducted with these firms to determine the contractor offering the best value. Contract award will be to the contractor offering the best value to the FAA. (0123)
