15 -- FY 1998 USMC AV-8B PROCUREMENT POC Contact, Betty Estey, Phone (703)604-1920 Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIRSYSCOM) intends to negotiate with McDonnell Douglas Aerospace, P.O. Box 516, St. Louis, MO 63166-0516 under Procurement Initiation Document (PID) number N00019-97-P1-PF105 for the production of 12 to 14 or such quantities deemed by Congress of AV-8B Harrier II Plus aircraft through the remanufacture concept which transfers selected components from day attack aircraft into the production process. McDonnell Douglas Aerospace, under license, is the designer, developer and sole manufacturer of the AV-8B aircraft. In conjunction with the procurement of the AV-8B Harrier II Plus Aircraft NAVAIRSYSCOM intends to procure for FY 1998 between 18 and 20 or such quantities deemed by Congress of the F402-RR-408A model engines for the U.S. Marine Corps. NAVAIRSYSCOM intends to negotiate with Rolls Royce Aero Engines Limited, Bristol, England under procurement initiation document number N00019-97-P1-PF103, the sole manufacturer of the F402-RR-408A engine and the only firm with the requisite knowledge and expertise to perform the effort.
