The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Service (FCS) intends to issue a competitive procurement for advisory and assistance services to conduct a review of available literature relevant to potential methods of monitoring the nutrient quality of school meals. The contractor will also be required to prepare a report discussing advantages and disadvantages of innovative options to collect data to monitor the progress school food authorities are making toward providing school meals that meet the Dietary Guidelines. The estimated level of effort for this procurement is approximately .67 person years over a period of 9 calendar months. This procurement has been designated for full and open competition. A fixed price contract is anticipated. The Request for Proposals (RFP) will be released on or about May 22, 1996 and offers will be due on or about June 24, 1996.
