Hannigan, Contracting Officer, (507) 272-7205 The Panama Canal Commission intends to acquire the dredging services of one or more Contractors to perform test dredging project with other than dipper, clam shell or suction cutterhead dredge equipment in the Gaillard Cut of the Panama Canal. The material to be dredgedincludes rock and blasted rock. The increased shipping has impacted on the need to increase Canal capacity as early as possible. The Panama Canal Commission has been tasked to accelerate the Cut Widening Program by ten years. Consequently, the Commission will be required to augment its dredging capacity the beginning of 1998; therefore, the Commission is looking for sources to provide this additional dredging capacity. Dredging testing shall be provided between July 1 and November 1, 1996 for periods of one-to-three months. The Commission may award contracts to more than one Contractor which will be required to perform these services in a sequential mode. Delivery 30 days, Balboa, Republic of Panama, Gaillard Cut.
