Mini Eyesafe Laser Infrared Observation Set (MELIOS), NSN: 5860-01-350-8551, for the production, testing, and delivery of MELIOS systems IAW MIL-L-49320(CR). Qualification Testing or certification as a qualified product is required including performance and survivability in the combat environment. A non-competitive negotiation is proposed with Litton, Apopka, FL as a modification to contract DAAB07-88-C-F400 for 116 MELIOS systems with three 100% options. The MELIOS is a manportable (no more than 4.5 lbs), completely eyesafe laser rangefinder capable of ranging to targets up to 10 kilometers with an inherent accuracy of +/-5 meters. Optical requirements include 7X magnification and a 7 degree field of view with range information displayed in the optical line of sight. The MELIOS utilizes a standard Army BB-516 NiCd rechargeable battery. It is required that MELIOS have the ability to incorporate a Compass/Vertical Angle Measurement (C/VAM) module IAW PS-C-49322 to provide accurate azimuth and vertical angle measurements for display in the optical eyepiece.
