COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MAY 8,1996 PSA#1590The Center for Naval Analyses, 4401 Ford Avenue, Alexandria, Virginia
22302-0268 A -- NAVY/INDUSTRY BASIC RESEARCH ASSESSMENT Due 053096. Contact, Dr.
Frederick M. Bomse, (703)824-2296. RADM Riddell, the Director, Test
and Evaluation and Technology Requirements (N091), has tasked the
Center for Naval Analyses (CNA) to assess whether the Department of the
Navy could better leverage industrial basic research programs. The
desire is to characterize these industrial efforts both qualitatively
and quantitatively, and determine whether and how the Navy might
benefit from them. We stress that the focus of this study is basic
research, which is that part of Science and Technology that falls in
budget category 6.1. In particular, the following areas have been
selected for consideration: Ocean Science, Information Science,
Materials, Fuels, Explosives, and Guidance, Navigation, and Control.
Your cooperation is requested in contributing information we need that
describes any basic research work your organization is doing that
might be applicable to any of these areas. Should you desire to
acknowledge this request, please inform CNA of your intent to do so by
30 May 1996. Your response should be directed to: Dr. F. Bomse, Center
for Naval Analyses, 4401 Ford Avenue, Alexandria, Virginia, 22302-0268,
or phone (703) 824-2296, or fax (703) 824-2857. Upon receipt of your
acknowledgement, CNA will provide you with two forms to be used in
preparing your response. One is a summary page for ease of providing
the administrative information for a number of research programs on one
sheet. The second form to be filled out by the principal investigator
provides the technical information on which CNA will base its
assessment. To ensure full consideration, submission of these forms
should reach the CNA point of contact by 15 July 1996. This request is
for information only. No contracts are intended to be awarded as a
result of your participation. The government will not pay for any
information supplied, research conducted, or testing that might be
required in connection with this request for information. All
proprietary information will be respected as such. Users will be
limited to the Department of the Navy and Department of Defense. (127) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0009 19960507\A-0009.SOL)
