C -- A&E SERVICES FOR OPEN-END STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING SERVICES SOL IFB 600 -021-96 DUE 061496 POC Contact Point, BVO, (310)494-5540, Contracting Officer, Brian C. Van Orman (90C) Open-End Structural Engineering Services for various projects at the VA Medical Center, Long Beach, CA. This contract will be for a period of one (1) year with an option to award two (2) additional years or until a total cumulative amount of $500,000. is reached, whichever occurs first. No individual project award will exceed $50,000. One (1) A/E firm be selected to provide the multidisciplinary services. The work consists of providing all fields of investigations, site visits, preliminary desings, construction cost estimates, construction period services, etc., on an as-needed basis under a firm-fixed price contract award for each project. All work to be done will be in accordance with VA Master Specification, VA Planning Criteria, and all applicable VA/National Codes and Regulations. The engineering consultant must provide written certification from a Certified Industrial Hygienist as to mitigation of asbestos contamination (if any) for each project awarded throughout the term of this contract, Significant selection criteria includes: (a) Specialized Structural engineer design experience in acute care hospital remodel and renovation projects. (b) Knowledge of architectural, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering design. (c) Professional capacity to accomplish the work in the required time frame; actual schedules of at least three (3) previous hospital projects shall be provided. Firms must provide rapid response for site and field work and related design services. (d) In-house capabilities to provide investigation and related design services. (e) Adequacy and qualifications of consultants and/or subcontracts to simultaneously produce additional work. (f) Satisfactorily demonstrate past performance on related contracts with hospital and Government agencies or private industries in terms of cost control, quality work, and compliance with control practices and techniques. (h) Must be located within a 50 mile radius of this VA Medical Center. Projects tentatively scheduled for A/E Services include approved non-recurring maintenance projects and any additional interim projects requiring A/E services. Firms meeting the minimum requirements described in this announcement may submit SF-254 and SF-255 by COB June 14, 1996. (0130)
