The National Library of Medicine has a requirement to maintain two of the more than 15 subfiles of TOXLINE, an online database residing within NLM's computer facilities. TOXLINE is a bibliographic database covering teh pharmacological, biochemical, physiological, and toxicological effects of drugs and other chemicals. The Toxicology Document and Data Depository (TD3) subfile contains records retrieved from the National Technical Information Service (NTIS) database entitled Government Research Abstracts and Index (GRA&I). The Federal Research in Progress (FEDRIP) subfile of TOXLINE contains records retrieved from NTIS's FEDRIP database. The successful contractor shall verify the effectiveness of the current DIALOG search strategies used to retrieve records from the two NTIS databases, modify the strategies as required, review the retrieved records to identify those within the scope of TOXLINE, and identify to NLM by telecommunications method the out-of-scope records to be eliminated from the TOXLINE update set. A cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for a base year with options for two additional one-year periods is anticipated.
