The Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO) will sponsor a Far-Term Technology Briefing to Industry (TNBI) on 9 July 1996 to present its far-term technology needs for advanced development supported by the Technology Directorate. The TNBI will be held at the SECRET level in the 8th floor conference room of the ANSER facility at 1215 Jefferson Davis Highway in Arlington, VA. This briefing precedes a cost-sharing Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) anticipated for release in late FY96. The advanced development programs should seek to counter the ballistic missile threats which will be presented during this TNBI and to advance the state of the art in surveillance, battle management command/control/communication (BMC3), interceptors, sensors, and off-board weapon systems. Threat categories include maneuvering, time-critical, penaided, signature-masked, and high clutter(cruise missile) targets. Examples of technologies of interest include, but are not limited to: microwave and optical passive and active sensors, space surveillance, hit-to-kill interceptors, image processing, discrimination, data fusion, remote tracking and classification, kill assessment, propulsion, strapdown guidance, incorporation of advanced materials, windows and domes, higher power and efficiency microwave transmitting/receiving modules, launch detection, terminal guidance algorithms, kill enhancement devices, imaging and tracking in high clutter, etc. Only U.S. cleared personnel from U.S. companies may attend the TNBI. A nominal registration fee will be charged for refreshments and mailing of the classified proceedings. The entire day of presentations and discussions by U.S. Government representatives will be videotaped and made available for viewing at the BMDO Technical Information Center (TIC). Only two representatives from each company will be allowed to attend the TNBI. If interested participants outnumber the seating capacity, BMDO will conduct two one-day sessions.
