A -- SOCIO-ECONOMIC DATA AND APPLICATIONS CENTER (SEDAC) SOL NAS5-32632 POC Lynette Harrington, Contract Specialist, 301-286-6776. This is a notice of intent to exercise option year 2 of NASA Contract, NAS5-32632, which was awarded on June 28, 1994 to the Consortium for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN). This contract supports the development and operation of the Socioeconomic Data & Applications Center (SEDAC) as one element of NASA's Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS). SEDAC a) develops and operates a limited number of applications which generate products combining Earth Science & socioeconomic data for policy formulation and decision making and b) improves the exchange of data and information between Earth Science and Socioeconomic data users. Tasks include 1) data and application development, 2) information gateway development, 3) operations and maintenance and 4) user support. These tasks provide capabilities to 1)identify source of socioeconomic data, 2) make descriptions of these data available, 3) provide access to these data, 4) support generation and development of new products and services, 5) provide these products and services to users.
