70 -- CONCURRENT COMPUTER CORP MAXION MULTIPROCESSOR REAL-TIME COMPUTER WORKSTATION, MODEL 9502 DUAL VME 6U RACKMOUNT SYSTEM. The Carderock Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center (CDNSWC), IAW FAR 6.302, intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source, Concurrent Computer Corp, San Diego, CA, for a MAXION multiprocessor real-time computer workstation, Model 9502 Dual VME 6U Rackmount system, and additional associated equipment. The model 9502 Dual System includes a 16 channel analog-digital (A-D) conversion card, a VA2 digital signal processing card, and two R4400-150 Mhz CPUs with 128 MB memory each. This workstation will be used for real-time radiated noise data processing in support of Seawolf and NSSN submarine designs at the Acoustic Research Detachment, Bayview, Idaho. CDNSWC has an existing Concurrent Computer Corp. workstation in Bayview. CDNSWC has been developing and utilizing application specific systems based on Concurrent computers since 1990. Specialized software applications unique to the Navy's acoustic data acquisition and processing requirements have been developed by CDNSWC for operation on this computer system. It is required that the system being purchased be capable of real-time radiated noise data processing in support of Seawolf and NSSN submarine designs, of operating the existing acoustic acquisition and processing software, and of serving as a hardware back-up to the existing Concurrent Computer Corp. workstation. The MAXION system sold by Concurrent Computer Corp. is the only system currently able to meet all of these requirements without the expenditure of considerable additional time and money to develop a compatable system with substantially similar capabilities.
