synopsis, the Naval Sea Systems Command has a requirement for a Long
Term Mine Reconnaissance System Preliminary Design and plans to issue
a Request for Proposal (RFP) on 17 May 1996. Since 18 December 1995, a
data exchange with interested Company's has taken place through the
World Wide Web (WWW). The RFP will include requirements for preliminary
design and associated data and documentation. Additionally, the RFP
will include option requirements for related engineering services and
system critical design. Proposals are required 30 days after issuance
of the RFP. A bidder's list has been established based on industry
response to previously published synopsis in the CBD. Due to security
requirements, no foreign company will be considered as a potential
prime contractor. A draft copy of the Statement of Work (SOW), and
Sections L and M of the RFP, as well as a draft performance
specification have been posted on the WWW under the following address:
http://sea02www.navsea.navy.mil/webdata/pmo403/pmo403.html. The Navy
intends to electronically post only the unclassified potions of the RFP
on the WWW at the address cited above. A request form will be included
at the above WWW adddress, to request the classified portions of the
RFP. Release of this information will be restricted to prospective
offerors that, have the appropriate clearance, and have a need to know,
and primarily to Company's having participated in the data exchange
todate. In order to participate in the subsequent development phases,
it is anticipated that award of an LMRS Preliminary Design contract
will be required. The solicitation will be listed under RFP number
N00024-96-R-6108. A single hard copy of the unclassified portions of
these documents will be maintained for viewing in the NAVSEA Industry
Liaison Office, Room 5E40 in the Zachary Taylor Building (National
Center 3#) 2531 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlingotn, Virginia. See
