COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MAY 16,1996 PSA#1596U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Contracts Management Division,
Cincinnati, OH 45268-7001 66 -- MASS SPECTROMETER SOL C600567T1 POC Contact Point, Cynthia
Johnson, (513)366-2040, Contracting Officer, Lisa Bentley,
(513)366-2041 Solicitation C600567T1; POC: Cynthia Johnson. The U.S
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) National Exposure Research
Laboratory in Cincinnati, Ohio (NERL-CI) has a need for a contractor to
provide and install an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer
(ICP-MS). The ICP-MS will be used primarily to research the speciation
of mercury and other metals in complex matrices using isotope tracers,
liquid chromatography and direct injection nebulization. Other
significant usage will be for non-routine samples such as food, and for
performance of EPA Method 200.8 when required by EPA special projects.
The ICP-MS unit must consist of an argon plasma ion source, a mass
filter, an ion detection system, all equipment necessary for
maintenance of high vacuum, and hardware and software necessary for
instrumentation control, direct injection nebulization, data
acquisition, reduction, presentation and storage. Other necessary key
features are high absolute sensitivity, excellent abundance
sensitivity, ability to detect transient signals, the ability of the
plasma to tolerate 100% organic matrix, low memory effects for mercury,
good short and long term stability, and high isotope ratio precision.
The ICP-MS must be a full production unit, not a prototype,
demonstration, used or preproduction run model. All responsible sources
may submit a proposal which, if timely, will be evaluated by the
Agency. All requests for a copy of the solicitation must be in writing.
No telephone requests will be honored. (0135) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0352 19960515\66-0002.SOL)
