D -- FABRICATION AND PROVISION OF SIMULTANEOUS VOICE COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT POC Catherine Poole or Penny Starliper (202)273-2700, Contracting Officers. The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts is seeking sources who can provide and/or develop and install equipment designed to transmit and receive simultaneous voice communication over telephone lines. The equipment shall receive and transmit digital or analog signals to permit simultaneous communication (e.g., two voices) without the ``baffle'' caused by incoming and outgoing voices on an undivided or single line. The separated receiving and transmitting signals shall suppress side-tone noise caused when `receiving' and `sending' signals are on the same line. The objective of this purchase is to provide, through the use of telephones, interpreting services to courts where no certified or qualified interpreter is locally available. The courts have Interpreters available in several locations around the country, who will use the equipment to provide interpreting services over the telephone. The equipment should allow for simultaneous voice communication so that proceedings are not slowed by waiting for interpretations back and forth.
