the intent of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research
Service, to replace existing overhead 4160V primary electrical
distribution services, transformers, and electrical services to
approximately 25 buildings at the National Animal Disease Center
(NADC), in Ames, Iowa. The major scope of work for this project
consists of the installation of new underground cables for the 4160V
distribution system, approximately five (5) 4160V pad-mounted
sectionalizing switches, eight (8) 4160V-208/120V pad-mounted
transformers, pad- mounted distribution panels, new underground
electrical services with disconnects to approximately 25 buildings, and
removal of existing overhead distribution equipment. The estimated cost
of construction is between $350,000 and $450,000. Solicitation packages
will be available on or about July 24, 1996. The bid documents will be
provided, at no cost to bidders, by APACE Architects and Engineers,
