IMPROVEMENT SOL GS05P96GAC0052. Due 070296. Contact Lina Velliotis,
Contract Specialist, (312) 886-4110. Scope of work consists of
upgrading one freight and 6 passenger elevators at the Federal Building
and US Courthouse, Indianapolis, Indiana. Work shall include for all
elevators providing state-of-the-art motor controls and accessories;
replace motor generators, hoist motors and regulators; provide
controllers, signals and scheduling and dispatch panel; replace worn
parts as necessary such as governors, brakes and gears; replace hoist
ropes, compensation ropes, and traveling cables; provide new door
system safety devices and provide new car panels and hall call panels
to comply with handicap accessibility standards keeping as close as
possible to the original design, materials and finish. Upgrades shall
include a new fire alarm panel with interconnect to the existing fire
alarm panel for alarm and supervisory signals. The new fire alarm panel
shall provide elevator recall. The upgrade shall include the
installation of ceiling mounted smoke detectors in all elevator lobbies
except the elevator lobbies on the first floor with glazed tile
ceilings which shall be provided with wall mounted projected beam type
smoke detectors. Smoke detectors shall also be provided in the
elevator equipment room. Emergency power for the elevator controllers
shall be extended from the existing emergency panel located in the
basement. New lighting fixtures will be provided for the elevator cars.
Install new penthouse machine room doors. Provide a rooftop packaged
air conditioning unit and necessary ductwork to ventilate the elevator
machine room if rooftop packaged air conditioning unit is taken out of
service for repair. Provide hoistway ventilation for three (3) groups
of passenger elevators and freight elevator. Elevator maintenance for
this project will begin on December 1, 1996. The completion time for
this project is 400 calendar days from Notice to Proceed. Estimated
cost is between $1,000,000 to $5,000,000. Specifications will be
available on or about May 30, 1996. A Pre-Proposal conference will be
scheduled prior to the bid opening date. Proposals will be opened
privately at the General Services Administration, Property Management
Contracts Branch (5PMC-W), 230 S Dearborn Street, Room 3324, Mail Stop
33-3, JCK Federal Building, Chicago, IL 60604-1696. Proposals are due
on July 2, 1996, by 4:00 pm (local time) and should identify the
project title, solicitation number and proposal closing date on the
outside of the envelope. The proposed contract is being procured on an
unrestricted basis and is open to all business concerns. A
subcontracting plan will be required from all large businesses. Failure
to submit an acceptable subcontracting plan is cause for rejection of
individual proposals. The small business size standard for this project
is $7 million and the Standard Industrial Classification Code is 1799.
