furnishing all labor, materials and equipment necessary to construct a
new mechanical penthouse, the replacement of existing HVAC equipment
and controls with new HVAC systems and the relocation and enlargement
of a pathology laboratory; including the subsequent repair and
alteration of adjacent spaces. The work includes phased demolition and
phased construction of structural steel framing and concrete slab on
metal decking, installation of new mechanical equipment and ductwork,
interior demolition and new steel stud framed drywall and ceilings, new
flooring and wall finishes, new doors, casework and plumbing for toilet
fixtures and accessories, and new water piping, drainage and vent
piping for accessible staff toilets, and to new interior lighting at
the Fort Yates IHS Hospital in Fort Yates, N.D. The plans and
specifications dated 1996 utilize International System of Units (SI)
(Metric) metric equivalent measurements (with standard conventions for
alteration of an existing non-metric building). The estimated price is
between $500,000 and $1,000,000. The period of performance is 270
calendar days. The proposed contract listed herein is set aside for
100% Indian-owned, controlled, and operated firms under the authority
of the Buy Indian Act. In accordance with the Public Health Service
Acquisition Regulation Paragraph 380.503(e), not more than fifty (50)
percent of the work to be performed under a prime contract awarded
pursuant to the Buy Indian Act shall be subcontracted to other than
Indian firms. For this purpose, work to be performed does not include
the provision of materials, supplies, or equipment. Award is subject to
the availability of funds. A pre-solicitation notice is being issued
concurrently with this synopsis. Bid documents will be available at no
