EPA operates a RCRA permitted combustion research facility at Research Triangle Park, N.C. The key element of the facility is the Air Pollution Control System (APCS). All exhaust gas flows from the individual research combustion systems in the facility and are required to be directed through the APCS by the terms of the RCRA permit. The first stage of the APCS is the primary afterburner combustion chamber. This first stage combustion chamber is subjected to high temperatures and chemical-inducted failure. This procurement will select a contractor to design, construct and deliver a functional duplicate of an existing afterburner combustion chamber. The chamber is a steel, refractory lined cylinder approximately 5.5 feet in diameter and approximately 9 feet in length. Engineering drawings of the existing chamber are not available, thus potential offerors will need to visit the EPA laboratory to determine exact measurements to fit the new unit in the existing system. EPA will schedule a site visit. The RFP will be issued approximately 06/07/96. Proposals will be due within approximately thirty (30) days after the RFP issuance date. This procurement is a total small business-aside. The SIC Code is 3567 and the small business size standard is 500 employees. Only one copy shall be issued to a corporate entity, regardless of the number of requests from one or more different geographic locations. A copy of the requested source list will be provided at about the same time the solicitation is issued. Only written requests will be considered.
