58 -- SONAR SYSTEM ARRAY PROCESSOR CARDS SOL N66604-96-R-E358 DUE 070596 POC Contact Joseph Masterson, Contracting Officer at (401) 841- 2442 X290 FAX: (401) 841-4820 The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport intends to award an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity, Firm Fixed Price sole source contract to CSPI for Supercard SC-4 Array Processor Cards and associated hardware/software for the Enhanced Towed Array Performance Demonstration Project. This Project is developing a real time system to detect, track, localize, cluster, and classify threat and non-threat sources. It is an initiative for demonstration and fleet evaluation of advanced towed array and signal processing capabilities. The proposed system is a stand alone towed/spherical array sonar which will be used exclusively for at-sea fleet evaluation. It is anticipated that the Government may purchase the following items and up to the quantities listed: (a) SC-4SL w/ (4) i860s, 64 MB, VME64, VSB & 33 Mhz Superlink (Part #4SL64-33), 50 ea. (b) Unison i860 Runtime Licenses (Part #UNRT-860- L4), 200 ea. (c) SuperLink Loop Back Connector (Part #SSLBO), 50 ea. (d) UCI Boot ROM for 167 CPU, including one year warranty (Part #4B134), 20 ea. (e) SuperLink Cable 1 Interconnect Boards in adjacent slots (SLFC1) (Part #100179), 55 ea. (f) SuperLink Chassis to Chassis Twisted Ring Cable (Part #100180), 25 ea. (g) SuperLink 0.5M Twisted Ring Cable (Part #SLO5M), 25 ea. (h) SuperLink 1.5M Twisted Ring Cable (Part #SL15M), 25 ea. (i) SuperLink 2.5M Twisted Ring Cable (Part #SL25M), 25 ea. The following salient characteristics are provided: PERFORMANCE - 40 MHz Clock Frequency, 25 nanoseconds Clock Cycle, 80 MFLOPS Peak Floating Point (per PE), 320 MFLOPS Total Peak Floating Point Per Board, 60 microseconds FFT (512 point), complex, 120 milliseconds 2D FFT (512 x 512 point), real DATA TRANSFER (Mbytes/second) - 640 Mb/sec access to cached vectors, 160 Mb/sec DRAM Access, 320 Mb/sec Crossbar Aggregate Rate, VME 64 - 6 Mb/sec single transfer & 68 Mb/ sec 64 bit, 512 byte block transfer, VSB - 6 Mbyte/sec single transfer & 37 Mbyte/sec 32 bit, 256 bytesblock transfer, QuickRing Technology - Scaleable Bandwidth, up to 80 Mbytes/sec between two nodes (over 500 Mbyte/sec aggregate), up to 16 nodes per Ring, up to 5 GFLOPS in an eight node Ring, will accommodate eight (8) I860 XR Processors in single 6U slot card. CONFIGURATION TO BE PURCHASED - 64 (upgradable to 128) Mbytes DRAM per board, 4 (upgradable to 8) I860 XR Processors SC-4SL, Hardware must be compatible with existing NUWC New London Submarine Sonar Advanced Development Hardware Suite, QuickRing Technology bus system; Software Configuration - Unison/Psos+m, VXWorks, Binary compatible with existing NUWC New London Submarine Sonar Advanced Development Suite Software Modules. The CSPI Supercard SC-4 is the only known VME 6U single slot array processor board that can provide the necessary computational horsepower, total of eight (8) i860 XR processors, as well as increased data bandwidth (QuickRing Technology) between nodes that will meet current and future processing needs while being compatible with existing hardware/ software resources. CSPI is the only known manufacturer that can provide the Project with multi-chassis (node) data transfer at the high data bandwidth of 5 GFLOPS in an eight node ring with its QuickRing Technology bus system. Any company that believes it has the capability to meet the Government's minimum needs is invited to submit technical and cost information, which will be fully considered by the Government. Further information regarding this procurement may be obtained by submitting a written request for the solicitation referenced above. Telephone requests will not be honored. (0136)
