70 -- FORECAST SYSTEM POC LaMar Carlson 301/713-0839 The U.S. Department of Commerce/NOAA intends to award on a sole source basis to ALDEN Electronics of Westborough, Massachusetts a ALDEN weather works configured for World Area Forecast System (WAFS) Display System to include: 1)Ku-Band antenna system. 2)Ku-Band 4 port receiver. 3) Weather works plus system dual PC configuration to include; a)80486DX2-66Mhz or better PC. b)min 32MB RAM. c)min 520 MB hard drive. d)1.44 MB floppy drive. e)QIC cartridge tape drive 1/4 inch. f)UNIX operating system. g)X-windows/motif display package. h)x-paint annotation package. i)14 inch SVGA color monitor. j)one software module f/data service. k)lan software & board. 4)Display system to include; a)80486DX2-66Mhz or better PC. b)min 32MB RAM. c)min 520 MB hard drive. d)1.44 MB floppy drive. e)QIC cartridge tape drive 1/4 inch. f)UNIX operation system. g)X-windows/motif display package. h)x-paint annotation package. i)14 inch SVGA color monitor. j)GEMPAK analysis/display software. k)lan software & board. 5)Software modules for; a)TEXT (opmet data). b)DIFAX. c)GRIB data. d)GOES images (hi-res)charged for three, one module included with basic package. 6)ALDEN data service for; a)TEXT (opmet data). b)DIFAX. c)GRIB data. d)GOES images (hi-res). 7)Installation, operator maintenance manuals (in English). 8)On site (Montreal, Canada) installation supervision and two days on-site for installation supervision will include the supervision of the equipment installation; checkout for satisfactory operation of the equipment supplied; and local operator and technical training. 10)Inland freight, handling, air freight and insurance. This system must be identical in configuration, form, fit and function with other systems acquired under DOC/NOAA contract 50DDNW-4-00016 awarded to ALDEN for the Satellite Communication and Analysis for Region IV (Star 4) network. Do not request a solicitation, award will be made on a purchase order. Reference No. 6-6113 in your response. Vendors who believe they can satisfy the Government's requirements are invited to submit an affirmative response. To be considered an affirmative response, vendors must submit written data and documentation which demonstrates an ability to furnish a system capable of meeting the previously cited requirements. All responsible sources must submit a written narrative statement of capability including detailed technical information and other technical literature sufficient to permit agency analysis in order to determine a bona fide capability to meet the requirements. It is required that pricing data be included as part of the response, including terms and conditions. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement for competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within its discretion.
