The state of Oregon will monitor Sea Lion predation at the Willamette Falls fishway in Oregon and investigate the effectiveness of non-lethal removal measures during the spring Chinook and winter Steelhead runs. Negotiations will be held on a sole source basis with the state of Oregon since it is the only entity (other than National Marine Fisheries Service) that has authority under Section 109 of the Marine Mammal Protection Act to conduct non-lethal removal of Sea Lions in this state.(0136)
