215-656-6761. The vessel is of all steel construction, and will be 82'
- 3'' long by 35-feet wide (maximum) with a depth of 10' - 10'' to the
main deck at midship. The design draft will be 7' - 9'' to the lowest
most extremity. The vessel will be twin screw with approximate total of
2000 HP. The vessel will be designed, built and classed to American
Bureau of Shipping rules for Steel Vessels on Rivers and Intracoastal
Waterways. The towboat shall be a twin-screw, open propeller diesel
powered vessel with an all-welded steel hull and superstructure. The
vessel's primary mission will be to provide towing and tender service
to other district plant in support of lock and dam maintenance. The
vessel will be provided with quarters and facilities for personnel. The
vessel's secondary mission will be to provide towing and tender service
in support of debris removal from intakes at two hydropower plants and
from lock approaches. The vessel will operate in the Arkansas River
from the mouth of the White River (River Mile 0) to the Verdigris River
(River Mile 454). Testing will be required and must be performed in the
Arkansas River, or other location with similar operating conditions. A
full spectrum of testing to prove the design and engineering concepts
is required. The contract has been formatted whereby the contractor is
required to modify an existing ``As-Built'' design. The design changes
have been annotated in the specification package. This contract will
utilize the MDC three phase contracting process. Liquidated Damages are
included in the contract and bonding is required. Full size plans and
specifications are available at a charge of $65.00 per set. All checks
should made payable to ``FAO, USAED - NORFOLK''. Plans and
specifications should be made available on or about 12 June 1996 with
a bid opening date of 16 July 1996 at 2:00 p.m. Payment will not be
returned and specifications need not be returned. All requests must
include physical address, telephone number, fax number, point of
contact and business size. This is an unrestricted acquisition. The
