COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MAY 20,1996 PSA#1598INTELINK INDUSTRY CONFERENCE Contact Point, Kathleen Helm,
703/631-6238. In conjunction with the Intelligence Systems
Board/Intelligence Systems Secretariat (ISS), AFCEA International is
proud to present the second Intelink Industry Conference on June 18-20,
1996, in the Dean Acheson Auditorium, Department of State, Washington,
DC. This extraordinary professional development event will bring
together government, military, and industry in a forum for sharing
information on Intelink, the paradigm that is revolutionizing the way
the Intelligence Community conducts business. Intelink has been in
operation for nearly two years since its inception as a testbed. It is
both an architectural framework and an integrated intelligence
dissemination and collaboration service providing uniform methods for
exchanging intelligence among providers and users. The Intelink
framework conforms to the future direction of the National Information
Infrastructure (NII). Intelink was patterned after the Internet model
in which a variety of institutions have come together in the context
of a global network to share information. This conference has been
planned for those (government, military, and industry) already using or
supporting Intelink and for those wanting to learn more about the
capability, technology, and opportunities it represents. Attendees will
learn about Intelink issues and plans, stay current relevant future
technologies, and discover opportunities to participate. The conference
will include keynote addresses from both industry and the ISS, as well
as industry presentations on the following: Java. A status update on
Java technology and discussion on products that will enable the
Intelink community to construct and utilize Java applets.
Collaboration/Group Work. A one-half day session on desktop
collaborative computing tools and group work products, such as
whiteboards, audio teleconferencing, video teleconferencing, virtual
rooms (MUD/MOO), electronic meeting software, electronic mail, chat,
and shared applications. Electronic Publishing. A one-half day session
on electronic publishing and presentation software products as well as
more traditional electronic and desktop publishing tools that produce
products that can be viewed with Web browsers. Browsers and Search
Engines. A one-half day session on browsers and search engine products
that permit Web users to efficiently access information on Intelink.
Indexing schemes and products will also be discussed during this
session. Security. A one-half day session on security products that
protect the integrity of both information products on the Web and of
the transactions between Intelink users as they conduct business on
Intelink. User identification and authentication products and
encryption products will also be discussed. Industry Futures Forum. A
two-hour session at the end of the conference will allow selected
industry leaders to present their views on where Web technology is
heading and to speculate on its importance to and impact on Intelink.
Discussions in each of the program sessions will be led by
representatives from some of the top companies in the field of World
Wide Web and Internet technology. Many will have on-site
demonstrations, so you can hear the experts...and then see their
products work. Interested in exhibiting? Call 703-631-6238.
