The equipment shall be a solid state, radio-frequency (RF) induction heating system capable of heating small laboratory specimens to at least 1100 degrees Celsius in air. The specimens are typically in one of two forms; plate specimens of 6'' in length and 1'' wide and 0.25'' thick or cylindrical specimens of 5'' in length and 0.6'' in diameter. The specimen material is typically Ni alloys and Ti alloys and their composites. The ends of the specimens will be held with water-cooled grips. The equipment shall be capable of continuous operation for at least 4000 hours. Each system shall consist of a solid state, radio-frequency, induction heating power supply and a temperature controller. The temperature controller shall operate using platinum/platinum-13% rhodium (Type R) or chromel-alumel (Type K) thermocouples as input. Delivery to Cleveland, Ohio 44135.
