66 -- ALL-WEATHER PRECIPITATION ACCUMULATION GAUGE DUE 071296 POC Annette E. Stevens, Contract Specialist, Thomas D. Genovese Jr., Contracting Officer 301-427-2180. The NOAA Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS) program will issue a Request For Proposal (RFP) in the next 2 to 5 weeks for acquisition and testing of several All-Weather Precipitation Accumulation Gauges. A 1-year initial development test and evaluation will be conducted to determine the best alternative to replace the current ASOS heated tipping bucket gauge and provide frozen precipitation water equivalent. The RFP performance specification for the all-weather precipitation accumulation gauge will be changed somewhat from the Request For Information (RFI), issued in March 1996, in order to encourage more applicants. Interested parties should send a request for the RFP package as soon as possible to Annette E. Stevens, 8455 Colesville Road, Suite 705, Silver Spring, Maryland 20910, labeled All-Weather Precipitation Accumulation Gauge RFP. The RFP will provide a succinct description of what is sought and information on the evaluation criteria. A 2-week period will be allowed after RFP issuance (scheduled for May 29, 1996) for submission of vendor questions. The Government will provide responses to questions 4 weeks after RFP issuance. The response provided to all inquiring vendors will include an information package which contains the complete specification. Final proposals will be due 8-weeks after RFP issuance. (0138)
