consists of the construction of a new dormitory (27,892 gross square
foot); the removal and disposal of asbestos containing-materials in two
(2) existing Buildings Nos. 306 & 307, and subsequent demolition of the
two buildings (1,600 gross square foot); and the demolition of an
abandoned concrete slab (1,300 gross square foot) on the proposed
building site. The work includes existing utility relocation from
overhead to underground in the project area, installation of site
drainage, site grading, site lighting and landscaping. The period of
performance for construction is 476 calendar days from receipt of
notice to proceed. The estimated cost range of construction is between
$1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. Initial Plans and Specifications will
be available on or about June 6, 1996, only from the Architect/Engineer
firm of Vidaud + Associates, Incorporated, 5220 Spring Valley Road,
Suite 200, Dallas, Texas 75240. Contact Mr. David Rose (214) 934-8890
for additional information. Collect calls will not be accepted. It is
emphasized that requests for plans and specifications should be
directed the A/E firm listed above to ensure proper handling of
requests. Requests must be in writing and a $100.00 refundable
bid-deposit is required. This bid deposit must be in the form of a
certified check, cashier's check, or money-order, made payable to the
U.S. Department of Labor, and submitted to the A/E firm at the time of
request. Plans and specifications will be made available for pick-up
at the A/E's office, or may be arranged for delivery at an additional
charge. Any additional shipping and/or handling charges must be
pre-paid and COD requests will not be accepted. Requests will be
answered on a first-come, first-served basis until the initial supply
is exhausted. For requests made after the initial supply is exhausted,
a non-refundable fee not to exceed the actual cost of reproduction of
the IFB documents (to be determined by the Contracting Officer,) plus
a shipping charge based on each individual request (if applicable,)
will be required in order to obtain the IFB documents. Pre-Bid
Walk-Thru is scheduled for June 20, 1996, at 2:00 p.m. (local) at the
North Texas Job Corps Center. This will be the only opportunity to
review the job site prior to submission of bids. Bid-opening is
scheduled for July 23, 1996, at 2:00 p.m. (local) at the A/E's office.
(NOTE: THIS IS A 100% SMALL BUSINESS SET ASIDE ACQUISITION. The
Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code for this acquisition is
1522. The Small Business Size Standard is 17.0 millions of dollars.)
