The National Cancer Institute (NCI) requires delivery and installation
of 3 Gel/Blot Image (GBI) analysis systems. Two of the GBI systems
shall meet or exceed the following: 1) Shall be able to image both gels
and blots, 2) Screen and scan area shall be up to and include 35cm x
43cm, 3) Screens shall last indefinitely and not require the use of a
darkroom, 4) Pixel resolution shall be adjustable in selections of 50,
100 or 200 microns, 5) Shall include software for quantitation and
sizing samples of nucleic acids and proteins, 6) Shall be an upgradable
design to allow the system to handle non-radioactive blue-excited
chemifluorescent and fluorescent samples as well as red-excited
fluorescent samples. Additionally, one of the above units shall be
compatible with a Government owned MAC 8500 as manufactured by Apple
Computer. A third GBI shall meet or exceed the following: 1) The system
shall be capable of filmless autoradiography using storage screens,
chemifluorescence for nucleic acid and protein detection on membrane,
direct blue fluorescent detection of nucleic acid and protein gels
stained with fluorescent dyes, 2) Shall be compatible with 10
Government owned Phosphor screens, as manufactured by Molecular
Dynamics, 240 Santa Ana Court, Sunnyvale, CA 94086, 3) Pixel resolution
shall be Adjustable in selections of 50, 100 or 200 microns, 4) Screen
and scan area shall be up to and including 35cm x 43cm, 5) Screens
shall last indefinitely and not require the use of a darkroom for
erasing, 6) For this Image Analysis System only, (unit 3) the
Government has available for trade-in purposes a Phosphorimager Model
400S Serial Number 30159, as manufactured by Molecular Dynamics. All
bidders are encouraged to provide a trade-in allowance of this existing
instrument toward the purchase price of unit 3. However, in no event
will failure to provide for trade-in, constitute grounds for rejection
of a bid. A site visit, time & place, shall be provided in the
Invitation for Bids (IFB) for the existing trade-in. If you wish to
