E. Mason, Phone (703)604-0903 The Naval Air Systems Command intends to
award a class of firm fixed price sole source modifications to the
MA-31 contract (#N00019-95-C-0162) with McDonnell Douglas Aerospace
(MDA). The MA-31 is an air-launched, supersonic ramjet target system
which is a variant of the Russian X(M)-31 target system. The basic air
vehicles are manufactured in the Republic of Russia. The purpose of
the contract modifications is to obtain services and materials needed
to incorporate, test, and evaluate an extended range capability of the
MA-31 target currently being demonstrated under contract #
N00019-95-C-0162 with MDA. Included in these services and materials are
required non-recurring engineering, technical support, component
testing, MA-31 hardware including 2 MA-31 targets and associated
support equipment, launcher, integration and flight clearance on the
QF-4 aircraft, 2 flight tests at the Naval Air Warfare Center, Pt.
Mugu, CA, and documentation. MDA will be solely responsible for
acquiring and importing the MA-31 targets and associated technical
documentation and also coordinating all attendant license and clearance
necessities with the U.S. and foreign governments. Responses to this
