The contractor shall provide one (1) automated Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) System for the Army Research Laboratory. The VSM system will be used to evaluate a variety of hard, permanent magnet materials as a function of temperature and/or alloying composition for use in electron beam focusing devices (traveling wave tubes, free electron lasers, etc.) and electromechanical devices (motors, generators, etc.). The VSM system will also be used for evaluation of High Temperature Superconductors (HTSCs); more specifically, the determination of critical temperature and lower critical field.
