The Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), Real Time Telemetry Processing System (RTPS), Patuxent River, MD has a sole source requirement for a Metraplex Corporation Model DFD20-01 Digital Frequency Demultiplexer. The Model DFD20-01 is a fully programmable, frequency demodulation system for processing multiplexed Frequency Multiplexed (FM) data from magnetic tapes, radio telemetry receivers and microwave communication links. It is used as part of a system for recording vibration, acceleration and stress measurements from jet engines, rocket motors, and gas turbines. A sole source acquisition is required because the RTPS is tasked with obtaining data from upgraded aircraft instrumentation systems such as the F/A-18E/F and the F-14D. Since the data used by the test engineers is used in conjuction with data gathered during flight tests from the Aircraft Test and Evaluation Facility (ATEF), the RTPS data system must be identical with the ATEF data system so that the engineer can study and evaluate the data from both facilities in the same format without any conversions. The ATEF already uses Metraplex Model DFD20-01 Digital Frequency Demultiplexers in its operations. This solicitation will be negotiated on a sole source basis with Metraplex Corporation, 5305 Spectrum Drive, Frederick, MD 21701 as the only responsible source per FAR 6.302-1.
