70 -- MAINTENANCE AND RELOCATION OF SSA LANS SOL SSA-RFP-97-2661 POC Andrew Klimas Tel: (410) 965-9493 The Social Security Administration (SSA) plans to issue a solicitation for the competitive acquisition of maintenance and relocation of SSA LANs and associated equipment located nationwide. SSA requires maintenance service for approximately 452 Token Ring Local Area Networks (LANs) and an Ethernet LAN comprised of eight segments, IBM compatible and Sun Sparcstation servers and personal computer workstations and peripheral equipment consisting of approximately 42,000 components. These include LAN boards, modems, additional memory boards, various dot matrix printers, laser printers, bridge equipment, network support devices and other components. The maintenance requirements consist of: 1) remedial on-call maintenance for personal computers, servers, peripherals and other equipment, software, components within covered equipment, network devices and covered cable plant, and all other devices attached or operating on the covered networks to be performed on a fixed-price per repair basis; 2) preventive maintenance on laser printers to be performed on a fixed-price per call basis; 3) movement of equipment covered by this contract on a fixed-price per relocation basis; and 4) technical directions at an hourly rate. It is anticipated that as a result of the issuance of the solicitation, a contract will be awarded that will result in a contract base year with four one-year options. SSA RFP-97-2661 is expected to be released on or after June 21, 1996, with proposals due 30 days thereafter. Any firm requesting a copy of SSA-RFP-97-2661 must submit its request in writing within fifteen days of this announcement. All requests should cite SSA-RFP-97-2661. This solicitation will also be issued electronically at the same time as the paper version is released. At the time of release the solicitation will be available for download in electronic format from the SSA Acquisition Data and Information Exchange (SADIE) Bulletin Board System.
