Long Beach Ca. C -- C-OPEN-END A/E SERVICES-ARCHITECTURE SOL RFP 600-020-96 DUE
062496 POC Peter M. Coronado Open-End Architectural Services for
various projects at the VA Medical Center Long Beach, CA. This contract
will be for a period of one year (1) with an option to award two (2)
additional years or until a total cumulative amount of $500,000 is
reached, whichever occurs first. No individual project award will
exceed $50,000. One (1) A/E firm will be selected to provide these
services. The work consists of providing all field investigations, site
visits, preliminary designs, working drawings, specifications,
engineering designs, construction cost estimates, construction
estimates, construction period services, etc., on an as-needed basis
under a firm-fixed price contract awarded for each project. All work to
be done will be in accordance with VA Master Specifications, VA
Planning Criteria, and all applicable VA/National Codes and
Regulations. The Engineering consultant must provide written
certification from a Certified Industrial Hygienist as to mitigation of
asbestos contamination (if any) for each project awarded throughout the
term of this contact, Significant selection criteria includes: (a)
Specialized architectural experience in acute care hospital remodel and
renovation projects. (b) Knowledge of mechanical, structural,
electrical, and civil engineering design. (c) Professional capacity to
accomplish the work in the required time frame; actual schedules of at
least three (3) previous hospital projects shall be provided. Firms
must provide rapid response for site and field work and related design
services. (d) In-house capabilities to provide investigations and
related design services. (e) Adequacy and qualifications of consultants
and/or subcontractors to simultaneously produce additional work. (f)
Satisfactorily demonstrate past performance on related contracts with
hospitals or Government agencies or private industries in terms of cost
control, quality or work, and compliance with performance schedules.
(g) Demonstrate design quality control practices and techniques. (h)
Must be located within a 50 mile radius of this VA Medical Center.
Projects tentatively scheduled for A/E services include approved
non-recurring maintenance projects and any additional interim projects
requiring A/E services. Firms meeting the minimum requirements
described in this announcement may submit SF-254 and SF-255 by COB June
