The Government intends to negotiate a sole source support services contract with an estimated base period of performance from October 1, 1996 through December 31, 1996, a three month optional period of performance, and a Continuity of Service Clause (which would allow performance for an additional 90 days for transition, if necessary). Lockheed Martin Corporation currently provides support services under a competitively awarded contract including: automated data processing support for the receipt, storage, maintenance and nationwide access to the INS Alien Status Verification Index (ASVI), Implemented by the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlement (SAVE) program. The services include ongoing maintenance and operation of the ASVI, which provides electronic immigration status verification of noncitizens, maintenance and storage of the ASVI database, and the maintenance and operations of a management reporting system that provides the INS with statistics on the use of the system. The estimated value of the sole source action is valued at $1,600,000.00, and is necessary to ensure continuity of services while the Government redefines the SAVE requirements and competes it, using full and open procedures.--This synopsis is published under the mandate of FAR 6.302-1(d)(2) and does not signify the pending issuance of any Request for Proposals at this time.
