This is Pre-Solicitation Notice: The work includes renovation and conversion of Pier 4 from an active, cold-iron pier that can support major repairs to a minor repair pier capable of berthing inactive shups (two aircraft carriers) and supporting emergent ship repair requirements. The project involves removal and disposal of lead based paints, asbestos containing materials, pigeon refuse and demolition, removal and disposal of the existing 350 ton Hammerhead Crane and associated facilities (two small buildings #569 and #123) and a 15 ton gantry crane AJWE-21. The hammerhead crane demolition will include removal of the original electrical system, transformers and 2300 V primary cables. The 13 KV feeders installed in 1988 will remain in service to provide 480 V power for the carriers. The steam, condensate return, compressed air, oxygen, MAPPS gas, boiler feed water and fuel oil supply and return will be capped, evacuated and abandoned in place. A fire water system with freeze protection are included. Renovation of the pier will include repairs to the substructure, deck and fender system and the provision of new fender units and deck fittings to moor the carriers and incidental related work. The Sic Code is 1799. The Estimated cost range is $2,500,000.00 - $5,000,000. The small business size standard is $7,000,000 are applicable to this contract.
