59 -- UHF TACTICAL SATELLITE COMMUNICATIONS AMPLIFIERS AND PREAMPLIFIER SYSTEMS SOL N00421-96-R-1138 DUE 070996 POC Linda Cullison, Contract Specialist, (301) 342-1825, ext 156, Michael J. Leary, Contracting Officer, (301) 342-1825, ext 121. The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, St. Inigoes, MD has a requirement for Ultra High Frequency Tactical Satellite Communications Amplifier and Preamplifier System (UHF TACSATCOM Amp & Preamp). This system will be used to enhance UHF TACSATCOM communications reliability for Special Operations Forces and will be installed and operated in tactical environments at deployed operating bases and mobile command and control platforms. The UHF TACSATCOM Amp and Preamp will be used with any one of several UHF TACSATCOM Receivers/Transmitters, such as the LST-5C, and any one of several UHF TACSATCOM Antennas with a gain of 3 dBi to 12 dBi. It will be located where it is convenient for communications origination, operation and providing power either outside, or some distance away where it can ''see'' the satellite. This can be in a vehicle, building, shelter, tent, tactical hide site, etc. The two are connected via RF coaxial cable. For this requirement, the RF coaxial cable will be assumed to be up to 240 feet in length. The UHF TACSATCOM Amp & Preamp System will be used to overcome inherent limitations described above. The Amp will be used to overcome power limitations of smaller receiver/transmitters, low gain antennas, and power loss over the RF coaxial cable. The Preamp will be used to minimize received noise, the effects of additive noise added by the coaxial cable and connectors, power loss over the RF coaxial cable, and small receive signal by low gain antennas. The UHF TACSATCOM Amp & Preamp System can of several configurations. At least the first stage of the preamp must be at the antenna to minimize noise. The power amp and remainder of the preamp can be either at the antenna or at the receiver/transmitter. An indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity type contract on a firm fixed price basis is anticipated, with a total term of three years from date of award. Items ordered shall be delivered within 90 days after date of order. Deliveries will be made to the NAWCAD Receiving Officer, St. Inigoes, MD. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which will be considered by this agency. Solicitation requests may be faxed to (301) 342-1864 to the attention of Ms. Linda Cullison. (0144)
