COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MAY 28,1996 PSA#1603MINORITY AND WOMEN-OWNED BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY CONFERENCE POC Charles O.
Boothe, Contract Specialist (404) 331-5001, ext 2564. Attention
Atlanta-Area Contractors. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development (HUD) is sponsoring a Minority and Women-owned business
opportunity conference for contractors seeking opportunities under HUD
programs throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area. The conference will
be held from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM Wednesday, June 19, 1996 in the Strom
Auditorium, located in the lower plaza level of the Richard B. Russell
Federal building, at 75 Spring Street, S.W. in Atlanta, Georgia. The
majority of HUD funding is provided through grants to local governments
and other organizations that contract for a variety of construction,
supply, equipment, maintenance, management, and service needs.
Additionally, HUD directly contracts for property management and
program support services. We plan to have representatives from the
Atlanta Housing Authority (AHA), the City of Atlanta and Fulton County
to speak at the conference. These organizations are some of HUD's
largest grantees in the Atlanta area with extensive needs for
construction and maintenance services. The conference also will feature
presentations by representatives from HUD, The Martin Luther King Jr.
Center and the Small Business Administration. Contractors will have an
opportunity to learn about upcoming opportunities, understand how to
find out about future opportunities, and meet with representatives from
participating organizations. There is no registration fee for the
conference, however, we would like you to send your registration to
Charles Booth, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development,
Atlanta Administrative Service Center, Richard B. Russell Federal
Building (Room 656), 75 Spring Street, S.W., Atlanta, GA 30303-3388, or
fax it to (404) 730-3426. Your registration should include your
company's name, address, telephone and fax numbers, the type of
services you offer, and your business type (small, small-disadvantaged,
women-owned, etc.). Also, please indicate the number of representatives
from your organization who will be attending the conference. If you
