66 -- WATER CONTROL DATA SYSTEM REPLACEMENT COMPONENTS, SEATTLE, WA SOL DACW67-96-R-0039 DUE 071296 POC Contract Specialist Dennis H Belcher (206) 764-6804 (Site Code DACA67) The Seattle District, US Army Corps of Engineers has a requirement to replace remote and central site components of its water control data system. Existing data loggers located at 31 remote hydrometeorological stations in Washington, Idaho and Montana will be replaced by 32-bit microcontroller systems. These new remote computers will interface with a variety of RS-232 and SDI-12 hydrometeorological sensors. They will have sophisticated software which will read the sensors and process, store and telemeter data via, VHF radio, telephone and GOES satellite telemetry. The existing central site data collection and processing software will be replaced by custom applications software. The software will be a native Microsoft Windows applications and will run on a Government supplied personal computer running Microsoft Windows NT, version 3.51, located in the District's reservoir control center in Seattle, Washington. The software will interpret the data stream from the remote computers, query these computers for real-time and archived data, and upload/download/modify their software. It will automatically perform extensive processing of the message traffic, create data files for each remote station and produce daily reports. Three central site radio modems and one telephone modem will be replaced. The new software will continuously listen for, and simultaneously process, message traffic sent by the remote computers to the radio modems. While listening to the radio modems, the software will simultaneously telephone remote hydrometeorological stations equipped with telephone modems to receive message traffic or modify remote computer software. Installation and training of both remote and central site items will be included.
