Albuquerque Area Office, is seeking Indian-owned firms as potential
sources to provide a complete food services program at Southwestern
Indian Polytechnic Institute, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The
food services to be provided shall be for (i) management and operation
of food handling facilities, kitchen, and dining hall; and (ii)
purchase, receipt, storage, handling, processing, cooking, packaging,
serving, and disposal of food. Except for sack lunches and preparation
and serving of short orders when required, food will be served
cafeteria style with student's self-bussing their trays (soiled dishes
and silverware onto a wheeled card). The contractor will be
responsible for unloading onto dish washing counter, and for
maintaining the cleanliness of the facility. Indian-owned firms that
have at least 51 percent Native American ownership are eligible for the
proposed procurement (Buy Indian Act). This announcement is to seek
potential sources solely from the Indian/Alaska Native Economic
Enterprises, as authorized, under the Buy Indian Act (25 USC 47).
Indian/Alaska enterprise means any business entity (whether organized
for profit or not) which: (1) is at least 51 percent owned by one or
more Indian(s) or (an) Indian Tribe, (2) one or more of those owners
must be involved in the daily business management of the economic
enterprise, and (3) the majority of the earnings accrue to the Indian
person(s). These requirements cited herein must exist when an offer is
made to a solicitation, at the time of award, and during the term of
the contract. An Indian is defined as a person who is a member of an
Indian tribe as defined herein, or an Alaska Native who is 1/4 degree
or more Alaska Native blood and either on or descended from someone on
the roll of Alaska Natives prepared pursuant to the Alaska Native
Claims Settlement Act of 1971. Indian Tribe means any Indian Tribe,
band, nation, rancheria, pueblo, colony or community which is Federally
recognized as eligible by the U.S. Government through the Secretary for
the special programs and services provided by the Secretary to Indians
because of their status as Indians. If your firm does not meet the
socio-economic criteria listed above, it is ineligible for this
proposed procurement. All firms claiming to qualify under the Buy
Indian Act may be requested to provide documented proof of their Buy
Indian Status. Firms meeting the stated requirements and capabilities
are invited to respond, in writing, with information concerning their
qualification to the address shown in this notice no later than June
