which operates the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) under contract
to the Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking an industrial partner to
participate in the development of new client server software for
access control for use with proximity card technology. Currently
available systems do not provide for adequate accountability and
reporting functionality. LANL is seeking a collaboration under the
terms of Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with an
industrial partner to develop a client server, access control and
accountability information system. The requirements for such a system
have been developed by LANL personnel. LANL personnel will provide the
system design and develop the information system software. The
industrial partner will be required to provide proximity technology
capable of reading cards/tags from a distance of at least 10 feet,
software which interfaces the input devices (readers) to the
controlling hardware, software which interfaces the controlling
hardware to the information system software and technical input into
the information system software development. Prospective partners must
demonstrate the ability to maintain and market the software and also
have programs for quality assurance and technical support of the
integrated system. Any company that wishes to receive more information
concerning this program must respond with a statement of intent,
describing the company's technical expertise, financial resources,
quality assurance practices, market share, and motivation for
participation in the program. The statement of interest must be dated
