A 1-year initial development test and evaluation will be conducted to determine the best alternative to replace the current ASOS heated tipping bucket gauge and provide frozen precipitation water equivalent. The RFP performance specification for the all-weather precipitation accumulation gauge will be changed somewhat from the Request For Information (RFI), issued in March 1996, in order to encourage more applicants.
