labor, equipment and materials for the reconstruction and surfacing of
portions of Forest Service Roads M1 (River Road), 18N16 and 18N16A
(Sunset Boat Ramp Road). The project is broken into a Base Bid portion
and four Options. The project starts at the junction to Lake Pillsbury
Ranch on Road M1 and proceeds east and south to the Sunset Campground
area. Major items of work include, but are not limited to,
approximately the following:(a) BASE BID (Jct. M1/Lake Pillsbury Ranch
to Jct. M1/18N16); re-establish 79.5 stations of P-line; construction
stake 1.47 miles, minor clearing and grubbing; minor drainage work,
excavation and embankment; recondition 1.47 miles of existing roadbed,
place 3700 tons of aggregate base course, 48 tons of hot bituminous
plant mix to bridge approaches; surface 1.47 miles with single layer
chip seal requiring 25 tons of liquid asphalt prime coat, 33 tons of
emulsified asphalt surface treatment, and 336 tons of 1/2 in. x no. 4
aggretate, 10 c.y. of grouted riprap; place 21 c.y. of gabions. (b)
BASE BID (Jct. M1/18N16 to Jct. 18N16/18N16A); re-establish 28.9
stations of P-line; construction stake 0.54 miles; clearing and
grubbing; install 84'' x 64' c.s.p. with end section and toeplate;
minor drainage work; exavation and embankment of 2835 cu.yds.;
recondition 0.10 miles of roadbed; place 2700 tons of aggregate base;
surface 0.54 miles with single layer chip seal requiring 9.2 tons of
liquid asphalt prime coat, 13 tons of emulsified asphalt surface
treatment, and 126 tons 1/2 in. x No 4 aggregate; place 72 c.y. of
riprap. (c) OPTION 1- (Jct. M1/Lake Pillsbury Ranch Road to Jct.
M1/18N16) surface the base area (1.47 mi.) with a second layer of chip
seal consisting of 23 tons of emulsified asphalt surface treatment and
277 tons of 3/8 in x No. 6 aggregate. (d) OPTION 2 - (Jct M1/18N16 to
Jct. 18N16/18N16A) surface this base area (0.54 mi) with a second layer
of chip seal consiting of 9 tons of emulsified asphalt surface
treatment and 105 tons of 3/8 in x No. 6. aggregate (e) OPTION 3 -
(Jct. 18N16/18N16A to H-14+35 (18N16A)) minor drainage work; minor
excavation and embankment; repair existing road surface damage with 15
tons of crushed aggregate base course and 11 tons of hot bituminous
plant mix; surface 0.26 miles with a fog seal requiring 1 ton of
emulsified asphalt and a single layer chip seal requiring 5.4 tons of
emulsified asphalt surface treatement, and 56 tons 1/2'' x No. 4
aggregate. (f) OPTION 4 (Jct. M1/18N16 to 550' east on M1) 10 tons of
hot bituminous plant mix (pothole patching); surface 0.10 miles with a
fog seal requiring 0.30 tons of emulsified asphalt and a single layer
chip seal requiring 2 tons of emulsified asphalt surface treamtment,
and 20 tons 1/2'' x No. 4 aggretate. Bidders must bid on the Base Bid
and all Options. The government will make award of the Base Bid and
Options in the order listed, dependent upon available funding, except
that Option 3 may be awarded prior to award of Option 1 or 2. The
beginning of this project is located approximately 29 miles northeast
of Ukiah, CA. A pre-bid tour is scheduled for June 26 at 10:00 a.m.

Price range is between $250,000 to $500,000. Estimated issue date is 10
June 1996 with a bid opening date of 9 July 1996 at 2:30. There is a
