Provide all labor, materials, equipment and skill to correct life
safety deficiencies in Building #1 at the VA Medical Center, Grand
Island, Nebraska. This work includes but not limited to the demolition
of designated existing doors and frames, and installation of new
fire-rated doors, frames and hardware at the stairwells, corridors, and
storage rooms. Many doors will require hord-open hardware to be wired
to the existing electrical and alarm systems. Existing non-compliant
chase access doors and panels will be replaced with new, rated access
doors. New signage will be provided in egress stairwells. The intake
and discharge doors to the existing linen chutes will be replaced. Fire
sprinkler heads will be installed and connected to the existing fire
sprinkler pipe system. The existing linen chute runs will remain, but
the tops will be extended through the roofs. All work to be
accomplished in accordance with plans and specifications for the
project. All work shall be done in accordance with applicable VA
standards and criteria, national and local building codes and NFPA
Codes. Award will be subject to the availability of funds. The cost
range is estimated between $100,000 and $250,000. Plans and
specifications will be available approximately June 15, 1996. Bid
opening will be 2:30 pm on August 1, 1996. Only written requests will
be accepted. Bid packages are limited and will be issued on a
