The National Institute on Aging (NIA) is soliciting proposals for the purpose of providing independent surveillance of the health status of rats in NIA-supported, contractor-maintained colonies of aged hybrid rats. This project shall provide independent monitoring for the purpose of: 1) confirmation of results reported by the colony contractor, and 2) serving as a research resource for the resolution of questionable health problems and advice on animal health management practices. The evaluation to be performed will include gross pathology, histopathology, microbiology, parasitology, and serology. The duration of the proposed contract is one year with options for four (04) successive one year periods. The solicitation will be available approximately 15 calendar days from the date of this publication and proposals will be due 45 calendar days thereafter. Requests for the solicitation must be made in writing and reference the RFP number stated above. Only one copy of the RFP will be sent to any requesting organization.
