LSO-360, Kennedy Space Center, FL 32899. Lockheed Martin Space
Operations (LMSO), NASA's Space Shuttle Processing Contractor at
Kennedy Space Center (KSC), FL, seeks sources capable of designing and
fabricating seven open-end semi-elliptical vats for chemical cleaning
which may hold strong basic or acidic solutions. These vats are to be
electrically heated with circulation and filtration system (four left
handed - three right handed), including drainboard and work carriers.
The vats are required for activation of a new precision cleaning
facility at KSC. The formal solicitation will include drawings which
are not intended for final design drawings - only for assistance in
delineating the design criteria for this project. The tankage will be
made of a minimum of 14 gauge 316 stainless steel and overall length
(including the end stiffening and suspension flanges) shall be 6 feet
and 1/8 inch. Included in the requirement will be tank stands also
fabricated from stainless steel angle and channel, one removable
dripboard per tank assembly, four work carriers per tank, calrod
heating units to maintain a temperature of + 5_F over a
thermostatically selectable range of 100_F to 220_F. Heaters should be
sized so that the ambient solution (75_F) will reach a temperature of
175_F in approximately two hours. Each tank assembly shall be fitted
with a pumping/filtration system capable of handling chemical solutions
in the range of 1 to 12 pH. Pump must have electrical or pneumatic
drive with a capacity of 60 gal. per minute and capable of continuous
operations at least 16 hours per day. Further details will be in the
formal solicitation. This synopsis is for the sole purpose of
